Retired New York Life Executive Vice President, former Co-Head of the Foundational Business, former Head of Agency, and WM patient brings decades of leadership, strategy, and organizational development experience to the Board.
The International Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia Foundation (IWMF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Madgett to its Board of Trustees for a three-year term beginning July 2026 and concluding July 2029.
Mark’s Background
Mark is a retired Executive Vice President at New York Life Insurance Company, where he most recently served as Co-Head of the Foundational Business in addition to his leadership as Head of Agency Distribution. Over nearly four decades with New York Life, he held a progression of senior field, sales, and enterprise leadership roles, including Senior Vice President, Head of Agency; Senior Vice President, Agency; Managing Partner; Senior Partner; Sales Manager; and Financial Services Professional.
In his final role before retiring, Mark helped lead New York Life’s core insurance and financial services operations and supported the delivery of protection-first, holistic financial advice through a national network of more than 12,000 agents and advisors. As Head of Agency, he provided strategic leadership for the company’s career agency distribution system, including more than 115 General Offices nationwide and the business units that support agents and field managers.
Appointed to New York Life’s Executive Management Committee in 2015, Mark contributed to company policy, strategic direction, and long-term planning at the enterprise level. His career also included building one of New York Life’s top-performing agencies as Managing Partner of the Seattle General Office and earning recognition for leadership in field management.
As a WM patient, Mark brings both personal connection to the IWMF mission and substantial professional expertise in organizational growth, strategy, leadership development, risk management, and long-term planning. His experience will support the Board as it continues to strengthen the organization’s sustainability, expand strategic partnerships, and advance resources for the WM community.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Saint Mary’s College of California. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees at Saint Mary’s College of California and previously served on the National Board of After-School All-Stars. He and his wife, Lizanne, split their time between New York and Seattle.
