Education & Discussion: Understanding Extramedullary WM

April 20 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT

Upcoming Educational Session & Community Discussion
Understanding Extramedullary WM: A Rare Complication of a Rare Lymphoma

We are pleased to announce a vital educational program dedicated to one of the more complex aspects of the WM journey: Extramedullary Disease. While WM primarily resides in the bone marrow, EMD occurs when WM cells form tumors in other organs or tissues outside the marrow. Because this complication is rare even within the WM community, specialized education is essential for effective advocacy and care.

What to Expect:

  • Expert Presentation: Professor Shirley D’Sa, Clinical Lead for the UCLH Centre for WM and Related Conditions, shares her world-class expertise on identifying the signs of EMD and the unique challenges it presents.

  • Deep Dive into Treatment: Learn about the current therapeutic landscape, including which treatments are most effective at targeting disease outside the bone marrow.

  • Interactive Community Discussion: Following a pre-recorded presentation, seasoned patient advocates Pete DeNardis (IWMF Chair Emeritus) and Eileen Sullivan (IWMF Board Trustee) will moderate a live discussion to answer your questions and share community perspectives.
