At the Ed-Forum this year, oncologists emphasized a vital message: WM patients hold the key to find better treatments by participating in clinical trials. The treatments are not new; they have been used in other cancers.  They are being used in different ways in WM trials to find more effective treatments for WM patients.  Meghan McGrath spoke during the “Trials and Triumphs: Research, Collaboration, and the Patient Voice in WM” session about how we can begin the conversation with a Clinical Trial Nurse Navigator earlier in our process.  She will be presenting on Zoom on July 19 at 6:00 PM EDT.  A “Question & Answer” session will follow.

Meghan McGrath, NP, Clinical Trial Nurse Navigator at Blood Cancer United, will provide an approachable overview of clinical trials, including who may be eligible, how to find trials that could be a good fit, and ways to start conversations about trials with your healthcare team. She will also discuss common myths and misconceptions about clinical trials and explain how the nurses at the Blood Cancer United Clinical Trial Support Center can help patients and care partners learn more about available options and identify trials that may be right for them. The session will also highlight how patients can learn about clinical trials proactively, even if they are not currently seeking a new treatment option, so they feel informed and prepared for future decisions if the need ever arises.
