International Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia Foundation

The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) is beginning a new program that will provide financial assistance for WM and other rare disease patients who may have trouble meeting certain expenses associated with COVID-19. NORD’s new program will provide financial assistance to eligible patients, covering up to $1,000 annually.
Funding covers essential expenses including, but not limited to, unexpected utility expenses; cellular or internet service; emergency repairs to car, home or major appliances; and rent or mortgage payment assistance. Interested rare disease patients and families can reach out to NORD to find out if they meet eligibility requirements. Eligibility requirements for this non-medical assistance include:
  • Patients must have a confirmed rare disease diagnosis.
  • Individuals must be US citizens or provide documentation of permanent US residency status; or resident of the United States for at least six months. Applicants must be willing to provide proof of residency such as a utility bill indicating their name and address.
  • Applicants must meet financial eligibility criteria (at or below 400% of the Federal Poverty Level guidelines) or demonstrate financial impact/mitigating circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic (examples include job loss, inability to work due to stay-at-home orders, school closures etc.).
