New Fact Sheet on IVIG, Human Intravenous Immunoglobulin Therapy
12 Sep, 2019

Human intravenous immunoglobulin therapy, IVIG, has been around for decades, and is a good option for patients with Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia who have low levels of IgG and who suffer repeated serious sinus or bronchial infections during the winter months. Also, especially affected are patients having recurrent infections despite obtaining preventive antibiotics and/or appropriate vaccinations, or those with severe infections requiring intravenous antibiotics or hospitalization. In the past few months there has been a nationwide shortage of IVIG affecting many patients, including those with WM. This IWMF IVIG fact sheet covers when IVIG is indicated, side effects, and useful self-care tips. The new fact sheet is available in English, Chinese (both Simplified and Traditional), French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Norwegian. The fact sheet can be downloaded HERE.
