The IWMF is pleased to introduce a new IWMF fact sheet about specialty pharmacies in the United States. A specialty pharmacy distributes medications that are complex, expensive, difficult to get and adhere to, and often used in rare diseases like Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia (WM).

Most of today’s oral therapies for cancers, including those prescribed or in clinical trials for WM (such as ibrutinib, ixazomib, pomalidomide, lenalidomide, acalabrutinib, idelalisib, everolimus, and venetoclax) meet the criteria for dispensing and delivery via specialty pharmacies in the US. As a result, the specialty pharmacy also becomes an integral part of your health care team.

Click here to read the fact sheet and learn more about the complete array of special and personalized services that specialty pharmacies provide, such as ensuring dose adherence, providing financial assistance, and resolving side effects.
