Regarding the Amyloidosis in WM Request for Proposals (RFP), IWMF President Carl Harrington said, “This RFP represents an extension of our search to improve the quality of life for WMers. While amyloid affects only a small percentage of WMers, we are able to fund this research due to the generous support of a single donor. We expect that WM researchers will aggressively compete again to secure funding from us.” RFP applications are due by March 3, 2017, with scientific review of applications to be completed in the spring. Announcement of the new project award will occur in June 2017. The anticipated funding for the project will start in July-October 2017.
The Amyloidosis in WM RFP follows on the heels of the second IWMF Strategic Research Roadmap RFP issued in November 2016. The first IWMF Strategic Research Roadmap RFP, which resulted in the IWMF funding three projects totaling almost $1.2M, was issued in November of 2015. See Research Strategy for more details about the 2015 RFP. See also page 5 of the September Torch for more information about the IWMF-LLS Strategic Research Roadmap.
