DESCRIPTION:YOGA NIDRA – FRIDAY July 19 at 2pm ET \nRest is a powerful and much-needed medicine for many of us. During a calm state like the one we produce during Yoga Nidra\, we stimulate the “Rest\, Digest\, and Heal” side of the nervous system\, allowing our immune systems to function at full bore. Accessing this innate state of relaxation is one of our goals during Yoga Nidra\, a guided meditation where we are given cues to release effort and explore the internal mind-scape. In fact\, research on Yoga Nidra has shown that it can decrease stress levels\, improve sleep quality\, elevate well-being\, and increase the mindfulness of the participants. As a certified lymphedema therapist\, occupational therapist and yoga instructor\, Babz will help us understand the system of beautiful lymphatic rivers flowing through our bodies\, and how to improve lymphatic health through yoga that focuses on deep breathing\, self manual lymph drainage\, muscle pump activation\, and mindfulness.   \nCome ready to learn\, and practice an accessible\, gentle chair lymph flow sequence for the whole body. Please note: self manual lymph drainage is contraindicated for those with acute cardiac conditions or those managing acute infection. \n  \nBarbara “Babz” Jackson Tobin\, OTR/L\, CLT-LANA\, CYT\, Reiki Master  \nBabz is an occupational therapist\, lymphedema therapist\, certified yoga teacher\, and a reiki master. Trained in oncology yoga\, she is the founder of Lymph Flow Yoga; a type of yoga specifically designed to improve lymphatic health.  Babz works in outpatient occupational therapy at Massachusetts General Hospital\, and frequently collaborates with cancer care professionals at Dana Farber Cancer center.
