SUMMARY:Creative Journeys: Expressive Arts for Being\, Healing\, and Becoming with Dana
DESCRIPTION:Creative Journeys: Expressive Arts for Being\, Healing\, and Becoming with Dana Kuehn\, M.S.\, LPC\, LCMHC \nExpressive Arts\, rooted in art therapy\, is a compassionate and flexible approach to healing and self-discovery that blends visual arts like drawing and collage with movement\, music\, poetry\, voice\, and connection to the natural world. For those navigating cancer treatment or in recovery\, it offers a way to reconnect with yourself beyond diagnosis\, words\, or medical routines. It’s not about creating a masterpiece\, but about engaging with the process — to express\, release\, and restore. Like meditation\, making art activates measurable changes in the brain\, and these benefits grow even stronger when more than one modality is used at a time\, such as combining music with painting or movement with poetry.  \nThis webinar offers a gentle\, welcoming introduction to Expressive Arts as a supportive practice for mindfulness\, play\, insight\, emotion\, and healing. Come learn about the research behind Expressive Arts and try out a few simple creative activities in community.  \n  \nBio: \nDana Kuehn\, M.S.\, LPC\, LCMHC\, is a breast cancer survivor and seasoned therapist with a career that included serving in the National Park Service to instructing in higher education. As a professor\, she has taught courses ranging from Positive Psychology to Human Relations\, while also providing individual\, group\, and career counseling. Dana holds a certification in Expressive Arts and has specialized training in Nature Therapy\, blending her deep love of the arts and the natural world into her healing work. She has led transformative workshops and classes in diverse settings\, including health spas\, homeless shelters\, colleges\, and cancer support communities. Dana finds profound connection in facilitating the creative process with groups\, and in quiet moments of stillness—like watching a butterfly gently land on a blossom—where spirit and presence come alive for her. \nBring pencil/pen and paper-if you have crayons or markers that would be welcome\, but not essential. \nRegister Here: https://iwmf-wm.zoom.us/meeting/register/xldmqlKMQhKWkTs0XOvT_Q
