SUMMARY:QIGONG FOR MENTAL HEALTH with Donna DeLuca
DESCRIPTION:QIGONG FOR MENTAL HEALTH with Donna DeLuca \nThursday Jan 30\, 1-2:30 pm ET \nCancer patients face exceptional psychological stresses: medical situations that generate fear and sadness\, anxiety and depression; medications and/or treatments that can exacerbate emotional states; and ongoing isolation as a result of compromised immune system health. \nIn the post-Covid landscape\, mental health services are increasingly in demand\, scarce and expensive. New\, more accessible and more affordable approaches to psychological self-care are needed. Join Donna DeLuca\, Instructor at University of Rochester and Pluta Cancer Center\, to learn more about an innovative\, user-friendly\, skills-based psycho-educational experience that combines two primary modalities:  Qigong and Trauma-Informed Mindfulness Techniques. \nThe goal of Qigong for Mental Health is to provide users with a holistic self-care practice that can help balance the mind and body. Users will be empowered to try simple tools drawn from qigong and trauma-informed mindfulness to help navigate all of the stressors they may face as part of their cancer journey. \nBio: Donna DeLuca is an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Rochester in the Program of Dance and Movement\, as well as at their Pluta Cancer Center.  She trained as a Professional Intern at the Center for Mindfulness\, U Mass Medical Center while she was an Ada Comstock Scholar at Smith College.  She has received an MS in Exercise Science and Behavioral Health Psychology from Ithaca College. She has trained for the past eight years with Qigong Master Lisa B O’Shea of the Rochester Qigong Center in her Healthy Balance Qigong approach and is certified to teach by her.  Most importantly\, she has served as a passionate advocate for radical self-care through her teaching and coaching career for over 40 years. \nRegister here: https://iwmf-wm.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMlcOitrjorGtJF35ij8IU2VZ5sesLTw6Zj \n  \n
