2023 Chicago Area/SE Wisconsin Support Group Walk for WM

September 30 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am EDT

2023 Chicago Area/SE Wisconsin Support Group Walk for WM

Dear Patients, Caregivers, Friends and Families,

This year we are doing a special “live” Walk for Waldenstrom’s in Fullersburg Woods Nature Education Center in Oak Brook, IL on September 30, 2023 at 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. We will meet at 3609 Spring Rd., Oak Brook 60523, and the about 2-mile walk will start promptly at 9:15 a.m. Don and Mary Brown will lead the walk. Mary is a long-time nature photographer and will guide us through the beautiful and wonder of this hidden treasure in the western suburbs of Chicago. She specializes in birds for which there are many including Eagles and Hawks but the Herons are her specialty. See some of her nearby photos. Also, we plan to stop for a group picture at the Historic Old Graue Mill located nearby on York Road. Water and Walk for WM T-Shirts will be available the morning of the walk.

You have three options:

  1. Join us for fellowship and this outing for our rare cancer. The exercise and the beauty of nature is good for both our bodies and souls.
  2. Do your own walk anywhere hopefully at the same time for unity.
  3. Finally, and maybe most important make a donation to our wonderful organization in honor of our local Support Group in the Chicago Area! Go to our website to donate: CHICAGO AREA, IL INCLUDING SE WI – 2023 WALK or just send a check to the IWMF Home Office (6144 Clark Center Ave, Sarasota, FL 34238) indicating it is for the Chicago Area, IL including SE WI – 2023 Walk. Our goal is $10,000!

Respond to Don Brown at [email protected] with the names of those in your walking group, your home town and email address so we have an idea of the number of in-person walkers and can contact you if anything changes – otherwise just show up with walking shoes. The trails are flat and easy and we will be slow and easy.

Whether you are a WMer, a caregiver, or a friend, a walker or an armchair supporter, your gifts are so much appreciated. Don is a 21-year survivor and has been blessed greatly by the many years of Research and Support coming from the IWMF!

Also, consider sending a letter to your friends and family asking them to support this special “Chicago Area Support Group” initiative for our disease.

Thanks for your support!
