Dr. Jyh-Seng Wang, the IWMF Affiliate leader in Taiwan, has recently published a paper on WM which was published in the Taiwan Medical Journal, a leading medical journal in that country. The paper, “An Introduction to Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia (WM)”, written in Traditional Chinese, covers such topics as: what is WM, its pathophysiology, incidence, risk factors, symptoms and signs, prognostic factors, current treatment options, future treatment and research strategies. The paper also includes a reference to the worldwide support from the IWMF, and the support to WM patients in Taiwan from the IWMF Support Group Taiwan.
Dr. Jyh-Seng Wang points out that the level of knowledge about WM on the part of the medical community in Taiwan is generally low. The intent of the paper is to help physicians across Taiwan understand WM and the support their patients can get from the IWMF. The article is only available in Traditional Chinese at www.tma.tw/magazine/magazine_01.asp(link is external).
Dr. Wang and his colleagues have also translated into Traditional Chinese most of the IWMF publications on the IWMF website for the use of Chinese speaking WM patients irrespective of where they live in the world.
